THE HILLSIDE CAVE SECRET

This first secret of the game is relatively easy compared to the later ones, and dying on it only loses about 7-12 seconds. There are three ways to do it, I recommend learning the easy way first and then working your way up from there. It should be noted that the most difficult way is much harder than the next one down.
EXAMPLE (EASY)
The entry to the Hillside Cave can be found in the 'Example (Medium)' video. This strategy is good if you are not yet confident in spin jumps. The block I groundpound in the video below never moves. All of the blocks will all go in the same pattern every time you enter the level.
EXAMPLE (MEDIUM)
The medium difficulty strategy is actually much easier than it seems. I recommend learning this strategy as soon as you can, since it makes the stage much faster and more consistent.
EXPLANATION
Backhover Slide
In order to backhover slide hold R and back on the control stick and dive into the water.
The Pole
The wooden poll you wall jump on to get to the cave has a bad hitbox. You can only walljump off of the right side of the pole. If you try to walljump against the left side of the pole, Mario will just fall down
Water Rollout up the Cliff
Exactly the same as a normal water rollout, dive towards the slope and as you rollout hold R to hover.
When to Start the Triple Jump
The cue I use for when to start my triple jump is a dark line in the wood before the yellow pegs (shown in the video below)
