THE GOOPY INFERNO

The goopy inferno can be a very annoying level to reset on, just before Yoshi Skip and after GBS, the key is picking a strategy that you can get consistantly that isn't too slow. For me, it's worth losing a couple seconds in return for not resetting especially for beginners.

Note that none of these are done perfectly and aren't supposed to be an example of how to do the strat, just a loose comparison.

EXPLANATION
Damage Boosting
When hit by a tornado, Mario begins blinking and becomes invisible for a short period of time. During this time he can touch the lava without getting hurt. Using this we can get to the mayor without having to go under the village.
Lava Bouncing
If stuck in lava, don't put down your controller as you might have a chance to save yourself. The player has very minor control of Mario's direction while bouncing on the lava but if you get lucky you could turn him around. An enemy might also spawn under you and give Mario a bounce. There are a lot of cool clips of people being saved this way.
Buffering a Spin Jump with a Groundpound
Spin the control stick as you land on the mushroom ending with the stick pointing in the direction you want to go and press A and B
